Chubby home made Loukoumades :) (Greek Donuts)

(In Greek)

Traditional Greek Loukoumades is the breakfast food that I grew up with.
Every weekend our breakfast table was full of fresh fruits, yogurt, honey and Loukoumades!
These chubby donuts are so delicious and you can have them drizzled with honey or Maple syrup.

Ingredients

180 g all purpose flour
100 gr whole wheat flour
1 cup milk (can be replaced by water)
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of dry yeast
Vegetable oil for frying
Thyme Honey
Cinnamon

Directions

Heat the milk slightly, just to get it warm and dissolve sugar and salt in it. Add yeast and  stir with a spoon.
Slowly add the flour and continue stirring.
Preheat the oven just for a minute and turn it off.

Dough - First Stage

There’s no need to warm the oven too much, barely warm it up a bit. Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let it inside the oven for an hour. The dough will rise and draw bubbles on the surface.

Dough after rising

Use a pan and heat the oil over medium heat. There must be plenty of oil because we are going to deep fry the donuts. When the oil is heated, we use a wet spoon to get some dough and we use another one wet spoon to slide the dough into the oil. The secret for this recipe is that you have to turn around the donuts frequently and you must not fill the pot with many donuts. Just few at a time. Do not worry about the shape of the dough, just drop them in the oil and turn them around frequently, they will swell and become round. When they got golden brown remove them and let them drain on a paper towel.
Transfer the donuts to a plate and drizzle with honey or maple syrup. Add some ground cinnamon, walnuts and serve!
If you want them stuffed, an idea is stuffed with strawberry and chocolate. You will need

250 gr chocolate tears the splintered
4-5 strawberries, diced
1 / 2 cup whipped cream 35%

Heat the cream with strawberries, just bring them to boil, remove from heat, add the chocolate and stir so the chocolate can melt.
Place the filling in the refrigerator for about 2 hours to cool. Put some butter in your hands and mold little balls. Spread them in some parchment paper and move them in the freezer. When they are frozen, dip them one by one in the dough and fry them.
